Vietnam Airlines Launches Domestic Operations at Tan Son Nhat’s New Terminal 3

This event was marked by the successful departure of Flight VN1286, operating from Ho Chi Minh City to Van Don (Quang Ninh) — the first commercial flight to take off from the new terminal.

Starting at 00:00 on April 19, all Vietnam Airlines flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi will operate from T3. Then, from April 28, all remaining domestic flights will also move to T3 — with the exception of flights to Con Dao, Rach Gia, and Ca Mau, which will continue to depart from T1.

Meanwhile, Pacific Airlines and VASCO—both members of the Vietnam Airlines Group—will continue their operations at Terminal T1 until further notice.

Passengers are advised to check terminal details on their tickets carefully, familiarize themselves with Terminal 3’s layout, use online check-in via the Vietnam Airlines website, mobile app, or airport kiosks; and arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure and go directly to T3.

Please note that T1 1 (domestic), T2 (international), and T3 are located separately within the airport area. Depending on traffic, travel time between terminals can take approximately 20 minutes. To transfer between terminals, passengers can use complimentary shuttle bus services that run every 10–20 minutes, as well as ride-hailing and taxi services.

Passengers departing from T3 can now use biometrics for various touchpoints, including facial recognition on the VNeID app - developed by the Ministry of Public Security. This helps to streamline security processes and enhance passenger experience, including check-in, security screening and boarding. At T3, Vietnam Airlines operates from counters 56 to 109, and provides 22 self-service check-in kiosks, helping passengers enjoy a faster and more convenient check-in process.

This move to Terminal 3 marks an important step in Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to enhancing the passenger experience, and also contributes to Tan Son Nhat Airport’s development as a leading aviation hub in Asia.
